Description:
Program note (English): Triptiek consists of the parts Murea, Varana and Naira. These titles refer exclusively to the parts of this composition and bear no relation to reality beyond. They only reflect the composer's desire to create a number of autonomous sound worlds. For each of these parts a limited amount of sound material was used. From this material which comes exclusively from electronic sources, new sounds have been made using various processes. In this way, 'sound families' have been created which partially provide a certain balance in the music even where sound and time structures largely differ. In the production of the source material, extensive use was made of various forms of frequency modulation. In order to control these modulations properly, modulation programmes with tone-burst generators were made. A number of these modulation programmes were constructed in such a way that the modulated signal was also given a rhythmic structure. In combination with tape dealy and feedback, this
method led to a rather complex but well-controled polyphony. Triptiek was awarded an honourable mention in the 12me Concours International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges 1984. - PETER PLOMPEN
