Program note (English): Sentences is based on the idea of short miniature forms that come and go over a background of very slow chord progressions. The miniatures are ranging from the playful and light to the grotesque and strange. During the course of the piece they develop into something more melodic, concluding with a solo for the piccolo flute. Both the miniatures and the slow, evolving harmonies are seen as the sentences referred to in the title. The piece displays however rather than development and the organics thereof, a rhetorical musical style based on contrast, surprise and joy of the moment. - LARS SKOGLUND
