Description:
Program note (English): [Première: 13-12-2003 - Muziekcentrum Vredenburg, Utrecht - Netherlands Radio Choir under the direction of Peter Dijkstra] - O Zuyderste Lucht was written for the Dutch Music Days 2003 where it received its première. It was composed for the Netherlands Radio Choir of the Netherlands. The poet is Anthonis de Roovere. It tells of the unrequited love of a woman who has lost her lover. She saw him depart in a southerly and the poem tells of her desire of him and her despair because she will never see him again. Only when she feels the wind from the south does she then feel the nearness of her lover and that is the only caress, which she will ever receive. For this reason the title O Zuyderste Lucht (Oh, southern wind). A true love song! - CALLIOPE TSOUPAKI
