Jan Wisse received commissions from BRT (Belgium), Radio Hilversum, WDR Köln and RSI Lugano. His compositions are performed by Dutch radio choirs and orchestras conducted by Paul Hupperts, Karel Mengelberg, Hein Jordans, Roelof Krol, Ed Spanjaard, and the Gaudeamus Quartet, Sweelinck orchestra and Forum; abroad by a.o. Melos Quartet, piano duo Kontarsky, flutist Gazelloni, Hans Rosbaud and Dean Dixon. 's favourite composers are: Monteverdi, Bach, Haydn, Brahms, Ravel and Strawinsky. One of his most important compositions is 'Sette aforismi' for orchestra (1956).

1921 - 1971

Jan Wisse wordt op 9 oktober 1921 in Terneuzen geboren. Hij werkte als leider van de gymnasiumband en het schoolorkest, als cabaretpianist, balletrepetitor, muziekredacteur van Elsevier's Weekblad en programmamaker klassieke muziek bij de omroepen in Hilversum. In 1971 vestigt hij zich in Poschiavo (Zwitserland), waar hij werkzaam is alls organist en koordirigent.

1985

In het jaar van Europa 1985 ontvangt Wisse de Europa-prijs.

1998 - 2008

Jan Wisse vestigt zich in Echternach (Luxemburg) waar hij op 11 oktober 2008 overlijdt.
