Sam ten Velden (1946) studied music in education, piano and conducting at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. He conducted various choirs and orchestras, such as the Haarlem Bach Ensemble (choir and orchestra), the Haarlem Youth Orchestra, the Haarlem Baroque Orchestra and the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra. He also led several productions of the Rob van Reyn Theatre in the Netherlands and Germany and of Brecht and Weill productions in the Netherlands and Belgium. Sam ten Velden teaches orchestral and ensemble conducting at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
