Jorrit Tamminga (Goes, 1973) studied Music & Technology at the Utrecht School of the Arts and Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. During both studies he focused on electronic composition, live electronics and sound synthesis. His work sounds regularly in different settings all over the globe: in concert halls and venues (Madrid, Amsterdam, Berlin, Istanbul), festivals (Huddersfield, Murcia, Zürich, Stavanger), churches (Mechelen, Utrecht, Antwerp), on the streets, in factories (Goes, Twente) and from towers (New York, Kaunas, Almere). He composed works for speakers only ('Barst', 2005), string quartet and live electronics ('Powerchords' for Zephyr Quartet, 2006), ensemble ('Cumulonimbus' for Nieuw Amsterdams Peil, 2007), saxophone and live electronics ('Klep Dicht!' for Rosa Ensemble, 2002), carillon and soundtrack ('Inside Out', 2003 and 'Waterslag', 2007) and gamelan and live electronics ('Tijdverspilling' for Ensemble Gending, 2004).
Tamminga programmed live electronics for several music productions such as 'Void' (Muziektheater Transparant), 'Faust' (theatre group Artery with the Nederlands Kamerkoor) and 'The Seven Chakras' (2009) en 'Nada Brahma' (2005), two compositions by Wim Henderickx. Also for composer Peter Adriaansz he programmed electronic sounds.
As a musician he plays live electronics in several ensembles such as Herautronique with trumpet player Hans Leeuw. Jorrt Tamminga teaches composition electronic music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and sound design at Music & Technology at the Utrecht School of the Arts.

2000 - 2007

Jorrit Tamminga is muziekprogrammeur bij Theater Kikker in Utrecht. Voor de opening van het Festival Oude Muziek krijgt hij de opdracht een werk te componeren voor blokfluitist Erik Bosgraaf.

2010

Jorrit Tamminga is een van de muziekprogrammeurs voor het Rumor Festival. Op 12 augustus vindt de première plaats van het multimedia muziektheaterstuk 'Jane' tijdens het Festival Boulevard in de Verkade Fabriek in Den Bosch, met Izhar Elias, Erik Bosgraaf, Paul en Menno de Nooijer.
