Ville Raasakka is a composer based in Helsinki, Finland. He works with ecology and environmental sounds. His compositional practice ranges from orchestral and chamber music to electronics, installation and performance art.
Raasakka’s works are performed by the Klangforum Wien, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, der/gelbe/klang (Munich) and the Finnish Baroque Orchestra at the most esteemed festivals such as Eclat (Stuttgart), Festival de Royaumont in France and the Mise-en Music Festival (New York).
His orchestral work gained a recommendation at the International Rostrum of Composers in 2019.
Ville Raasakka studied with Veli-Matti Puumala at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and privately with Georges Aperghis in Paris. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the Sibelius Academy where he also teaches composition at master’s level. He runs the Klang concert series at the Helsinki Music Centre and performs in the Earth Ears Ensemble.
