Simon Pluister was born November 12, 1913, in the village of Obdam. He died on December 16, 1995.
He took private composition lessons with Daniël Ruyneman. At the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music he studied composition with Hendrik Andriessen and Ernest W. Mulder, and piano with André Jurres.
From 1956 to 1962 Pluister worked (under a pseudonym: Agricola, Dupont, Shamrock and G. Simon) as composer, arranger and conductor at the Concert Orchestra and the Radio Tivoli Orchestra of NCRV Radio in Hilversum. He also wrote for symphony orchestra, chamber music and for choir. His compositions are published by Donemus and the popular music by Sirius Verlag in Berlin.

1913 - 1950

Simon Pluister is geboren op 12 november 1913 in het Noordhollandse Obdam. Hij krijgt privé compositieles van Daniël Ruyneman. Vervolgens studeert hij aan het Amsterdams Conservatorium compositie bij Hendrik Andriessen en Ernest W. Mulder, en piano bij André Jurres.

1956 - 1962

Simon Pluister is als dirigent en componist/arrangeur (onder de pseudoniemen Jacob Agricola, Charles M. Dupont, G. Simon en Harold Shamrock) vast verbonden aan het Concert Orchestra en het Radio Tivoli Orkest voor de NCRV te Hilversum.

1963 - 1995

Pluister is dirigent van het Urker mannenkoor en docent electronisch orgel aan de muziekschool van Emmeloord. Simon Pluister overlijdt op 16 december.

1998

Op het eiland Urk gaat de laatste compositie van Simon Pluister, 'Requiem', voltooid door Piet Boekel, postuum in première.
