Patta, Serafino

Serafino Patta was a Benedictine monk of the Congregation of Cassina (near Milan, It.). Little is known about his youth, family, education and early life. We do know that he took vows in 1595 in the monastery of SS. Spirito e Gallo in Pavia. He became known through his work as organist and composer in Pavia, Cesena, Reggio nell’ Emilia, and Pavia again. During these periods he published several works with sacred music, all at Vincenti in Venice, or Magni in Garda.
