Simone Molinaro was an Italian composer of the late Renaissance period.
He was especially famous for his lute music. Molinaro was born in Genoa round 1570. He studied music with his uncle Giovanni Battista dalla Gostena, the maestro di cappella of Genoa Cathedral. When his uncle was murdered in 1593, Molinaro succeeded him in 1599 as maestro at the cathedral. It was also in 1599 that Molinari published his first book of lute music (Intavolatura di liuto) containing works of his own hand and from Dalla Gostena as well. He wrote a large number of sacred music.
