Kerll, Johann Caspar

Johann Caspar Kerll (1627-1693) was a German composer in the baroque period. He studied and worked with Giacomo Carissimi and probably with Johann Jakob Froberger. In 1664 he was knighted by the German Emperor. He worked in Vienna and Munich where he was successful with several operas that have not survived. Amongst his pupils was Johann Pachelbel.
