Far, Matías
Date of birth:
1973
The music of Matías Far (1973) is fundamentally instrumental, in the field of the chamber and the orchestra, and almost always with interaction with electronic media. Especially as the new media transform the way of composing and thinking about sound more than as a sound source or active layer in a mixture with the instrumental sound. Even more so as new technologies allow an expansion of the sound resources of traditional instruments without evolutionary cuts and directing their construction towards the sound that is perceived as nature. In fact, his work seeks the possibility of turning it into a natural fact.
Far finished his studies in music theory at the Musikhohschule in Stuttgart (2005), with Matthias Hermann and in Psychology at the UAB (1998) in Barcelona. He began his composition studies with Xavier Carbonell in Palma de Mallorca and worked especially with Manuel Hidalgo in Germany. He receives commissions from various institutions and festivals and especially from musicians in the field of contemporary music. The award of the Meisterkurs Orchesterwerkstat des Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR (2012) stands out, but also his participation in the permanent composition seminar of the Grup Instrumental de València (2009) with Mauricio Sotelo.
