Hans van Eck is one of the founders of the Schreck-Ensemble, where he plays an important role as the artistic leader and sound-director of the ensemble. As producer/recording-technician/composer he collaborates with Hans van Koolwijk in the realisation of the CD 'Bambuso Sonoro'. He has become a regular guest at Van Koolwijk's projects. Hans van Eck is one of the developers of the BassBox on which he performs many concerts.
From 1976 on he composes music for different scorings of instruments sometimes in combination with electronic sounds as well as pure electronic music. His works are performed by the Schreck Ensemble, the Aquarius Ensemble, in Amsterdam, Utrecht, and in Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Rumania and Brazil. The music of Hans van Eck focuses on emotional appeal and colourful perspectives.
1977 - 1985
Hans van Eck (16 augustus 1958) studeert musicologie bij Leigh Landy, Frits Noske en Ton de Leeuw, aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam met specialisaties: 1600, 1900 en 20ste eeuw. Hij sluit deze studie cum laude af met een doctoraal examen over Johann Jacob Froberger. Van 1981 tot 1985 studeert hij sonologie aan het Instituut voor Sonologie in Utrecht bij Jaap Vink, Frits Weiland en G.M. Koenig. Verder neemt hij privélessen in instrumentatie bij Daan Manneke.
2000 - 2009
Zijn compositie voor muziektheater 'Nuctemeron' (2000) wordt regelmatig uitgevoerd.
In 2009 verschijnt de cd 'Bass Box'.
