composer
Dieck, Christian
Christian Dieck, born in Trier in 1982, began his musical training at the piano and the organ. Intensively, he turned to lyric poetry at that time, concentrating on poetry and music. Later, Christian Dieck went to Munich and studied composition with Jan Müller-Wieland at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich. Further studies followed with Pascal Dusapin, Isabel Mundry and Frédèric Durieux. This is followed by a master's degree in culture and media management at the KMM of the Hamburg University of Music and Theater.
His compositions have been performed at many New Music festivals, for example in the "Young Soloists" series of the Siemens Arts Program, or at the A.Devantgarde Festival for Contemporary Music, Symposium for New Music Munich. In 2013 he wrote a compositional contribution to the live video installation "Baudelaire-Prisma", which was performed in the passages Linköpings Konsthall in Sweden, Schwanenburg in Hanover and in Switzerland. Christian Dieck has repeatedly turned his attention to the subject of his work. Also as a scholarship to the Berliner Aribert-Reimann-Foundation, Dieck put his own lyric at the center of his work and wrote the song cycle "Im Schattenlicht".
He also works as a manager of the INDEX Ensemble for Contemporary Music, with which he received the Bavarian Art Prize in 2012.
He has been a member of the board of aDevantgarde e.V. since 2018 and is head of the Artistic Operations Office and Organisation of the aDevantgarde Festival.
Christian Dieck lives and works in Munich.
