Daser, Ludwig

Date of birth: c.1526
Date of death: 1589

Ludwig Daser (c.1526-1589) was a German Kapellmeister and composer. He was raised at the Munich court. When he converted to protestantism he lost his post and was forced to leave Munich. This fact is a little in contradiction with the reputation of Munich as a city tolerant to various faiths. Daser went to Stuttgart where he became Kapellmeister for Duke Christoff von Württemberg in 1572, and stayed in this function throughout the rest of his life. He wrote 22 masses, 24 motets and other sacred works, as well as a Passion.
