Adam Łukawski was born in Suwałki, Poland on 5th of February 1997. His family moved to Warsaw when he was 7 and there began his music education.
Education: In 2010 Łukawski received his music diploma of the first degree with piano specialisation and continued his musical education changing the main instrument to double bass in class of Adam Kotula. In 2016 he received a music diploma of the second degree at Józef Elsner State School of Music in Warsaw, Poland, where also attended composition faculty of Prof. Sławomir Czarnecki. There, he was also organising, as the artistic director, 3 editions of the annual Students Composers Forum (“Uczniowskie Forum Muzyczne”). Currently, he is studying composition with Prof. Richard Ayres and Prof. Willem Jeths at Conservatorium van Amsterdam where also had the opportunity to take part in masterclasses of Sir George Benjamin, Rebecca Saunders, Trevor Wishart and other composers.
Compositions: Recent works of the composer often includes extended attempts to the chance operations and electronics as well as transferring this ideas to the ground of the acoustic music. His music was performed among others in Ehrbar Hall of Prayner Conservatory in Vienna, the Concert Hall of the Polish Radio Philharmonic Orchestra of Witold Lutoslawski, Mazovian Institute of Culture, Gallery of the Porczyński Family, The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Het Orgelpark, Het Splendor, Het Veem, BernardHaitinkzaal in Amsterdam; during many concerts of the Polish Composers’ Union and during the concert organised by Yuri Bashmet in Steinschaler Dörfl, Austria. In 2016, his music theatre “Speech of Avenice” for voice, blockflutes, live electronics and lights was commissioned by the Gesti Festival Amsterdam (organised for the 50th anniversary of the piece “Gesti” by Luciano Berio). His music has also been performed during two editions of the Composers’ Festival Amsterdam. In 2017 his work “16 Fractals for 4 Ensembles” was performed by The Score Collective conducted by Lucas Vis. In this work, composer used especially designed by him compositional technique of “coordinated aleatoricism” created by connecting developments of Christian Wolff coordination technique and Witold Lutosławski limited aleatoricism. Being especially interested in new forms of expression - mainly contemporary, experimental music - his role as the composer, he himself explains as "somebody who makes conscious connections to achieve something new - by creating special relations, which continue to live their own life hereafter".
Other: Adam Łukawski also performs his own works as a pianist, double-bassist and live-electronics performer. He is a member of the improvisation theatre group BCA Flash as improvising musician.
Awards: Laureate of the international composition competitions, among others: "In modo di Lutoslawski” (2013, Warsaw, Poland) for aleatoric composition “Mirrors” for a symphony orchestra, UFM Composers’ Forum National Composition Competition (2015, Warsaw, Poland) for “Acharya Mrityuh” for quartet, Golden Key Piano Composition Competition (2016, New York, USA / Vienna, Austria) for “Maya” for piano, IBLA Grand Prize “Most Distinguished Musician” (2016, New York, USA/ Ragusa, Italy) for “Visions of Consciousness” for piano.
